The temperatures outside are starting to plummet, and you know what that means: winter weather driving conditions will soon be upon us. Thankfully, you can combat these hazardous roads with excellent preparation.
Here are some winter weather car prep tips to get you started:
Check on your tire pressure and alignment, making sure that the pressure matches the manufacturer’s recommended amount.
Ensure that you have enough fresh coolant, keeping your engine from freezing and preventing corrosion over time.
Stock your vehicle with an ice scraper, a shovel, and a pair of hardy gloves. This way, when the first snowfall comes, you will be ready.
Consider making sure that your heating works now, before it gets too cold. You won’t want to discover that it is broken on the first frigid day of the year.
Ford’s stellar lineup of performance vehicles is more popular than ever, and the numbers prove it. In fact, Ford performance cars are currently on track to break sales records this year, with tons of drivers snatching up the Ford Mustang, Ford Focus RS and ST, and Ford Fiesta ST.
More than 200,000 individual Ford performance cars are expected to be sold this year, all throughout the world, which is astonishingly more than twice the amount of Ford performance cars sold a few years ago.
And these sales aren’t expected to slow down anytime soon. Ford even has additional performance models planned for the future, with about half a dozen new performance vehicles slated to be released before the decade ends.
If you are interested in a Ford performance car, you should visit us before it is too late! Demand for the Shelby GT350 and GT350R is out of control, with an endless list of order commitments, and the Focus RS is almost entirely sold out, due to global interest.
Ford performance vehicles have never been hotter! Contact us or visit us anytime, here at Highway Ford, to learn more about Ford performance vehicles or to take one out on a test drive, before they disappear.
Hennessey Performance has seriously raised the bar for the 2017 Ford Focus RS, increasing the horsepower and torque production in the already powerful vehicle from 350 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque to 405 horsepower and 425 lb-ft of torque.
Many would have said that the 350 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque was clearly enough, but there’s never enough for Hennessey Performance. And they did everything they could to make this beast of a car just a bit more beastly.
The Hennessey Performance Ford Focus RS package, HPE400, also comes with a long list of additional upgrades, including a high-flow air filter and a stainless steel exhaust upgrade which is aimed to make the vehicle’s exhaust even louder, just for the thrills.
As for just how quickly the Ford Focus RS can accelerate with this package, we do not know yet, but the basic version of the car already can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in a mere 4.6 seconds. There’s no telling just how powerful it could get with this package.
If you’re interested in learning more about the 2017 Ford Focus RS or its Hennessey Performance upgrade, feel free to contact us or visit us anytime at Highway Ford.
A recent patent has revealed that Ford has come up with an unusual way to encourage drivers to save fuel that involves increasing engine noise. Real-world fuel savings are not as high as one might expect given the recent trend of putting downsized and turbocharged engines under the hood, and according to Ford, that’s because most drivers “shift by ear” rather than by the tachometer.
For example, the combination of the Ford Fiesta’s offbeat snarl and turbo boost practically begs its drivers to rev the 1.0-liter EcoBoost 3-cylinder engine. Ford claims that the advantage of downsized turbo engines is negated by this because they aren’t driven within their most efficient range.
To counter this, Ford is injecting low-amplitude noise between cylinder firings that would make engines sound as though they had more cylinders than they do in reality and train the driver to shift earlier. For turbocharged two-cylinder and three-cylinder engines, this should be a way to help drivers save fuel without resorting to invasive solutions like cutting power or artificially limiting RPM, which we expect our customers will appreciate at Highway Ford!
If you have more questions about saving fuel in your Ford vehicle, or you are interested in one of our great Ford vehicles, stop by Highway Ford today and we will be glad to assist you!
With every year that goes by, it seems to get easier and easier to listen to your favorite tunes on the road. Whether you are a fan of satellite radio or like to bring your personal collection everywhere you go, it’s never been simpler and safer to listen to music while driving.
And it’s safe to say that Ford’s recently announced partnership with Spotify will make the process that much easier, safer, and more fun. This union will bring two of your favorite brands together as one!
Ford will reveal their newest technology system, FordPass, this April, aiming to give their drivers a “smarter way to move,” and now it seems that FordPass will come with Spotify integrated into the system.
As the largest streaming site on the web, Spotify has an arguably unbeatable selection of music and pre-made playlists. The Swedish company reported 30 million paid subscribers in March 2016, a number that continues to grow. So it only makes sense that Ford and Spotify would make a great partnership!
If you’re a Ford driver who hasn’t yet jumped on the Spotify bandwagon, now might be the time. For more information or to check out a vehicle to pair with FordPass and Spotify, visit us anytime at Highway Ford.
For those of you who love the iconic Monopoly game, your favorite Ford sports car will now be part of its history. This year the Ford Mustang monopoly piece will be replacing the Corvette Stingray in Monopoly Empire.
If you are an avid fan of Monopoly and have played this classic board game since you were little, you know the importance of picking the right piece to ensure victory! With the Ford Mustang added to the lineup, we are hopeful that this piece will see many victories, much akin to the way this muscle car has won many awards over its 50 years of existence.
In addition to the Ford Mustang being added to the game, Ford Motor Company has made its way to the board as well. Ford will take the place of the Ventnor Avenue in yellow and will cost $300K to purchase. Ford is clearly a place of importance in this Monopoly Empire game, and we hope both the Mustang and the Ford Place will help lead players to victory for those who acquire them!
In all seriousness though, we are excited that Ford can be a part of this iconic board game and showcase its famous muscle car among the ranks of monopoly pieces. Tell us at Highway Ford which piece is your favorite to choose to play!
Ford has nudged up the performance numbers of the new Ford Fiesta. This fierce hatchback just became feistier, as the all new Fiesta ST200.
The Fiesta ST200 has a recalibrated version of the engine, which gives more temporary horsepower thanks to the transient overboost. Engineers at Ford have kept the six-speed manual gearbox, but have shorted the final drive ratio. This allows the Fiesta to reach 62 mph in 6.7 seconds. This is 0.2 seconds faster than the regular Fiesta ST. In addition, the top speed of the ST200 reaches 143 mph, which is six mph faster than the ST.
Ford has also enhanced the sport chassis, giving it more Torque Vectoring Control and a 3-mode Electronic Stability Control. There is also a stiffer suspension, which is 15mm lower, bigger rear brake discs, a sharper steering rack, and modified front steering knuckles.
Of course, don’t worry if you don’t know what those specific items are, as it visually stands apart from the ST. You can also identify the new ST200 by the model exclusive Strom Grey paint and 17-inch machined black alloy wheels with red brake calipers. On the inside, the ST200 has unique partial leather Charcoal Recar front seats. There is contrasting silver stitching on the seats and seatbelts, and the scuff plates are illuminated.
The Ford Fiesta ST200 goes on sale this June. Be sure to stop by Highway Ford in DeRidder, La to see the regular Ford Fiesta in stock today!
It’ll come as no surprise to those who stay up to date with the truck world, but here it is anyway: the 2016 Ford F-150 has been named the 2016 Green Truck of the Year by Green Car Journal at the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show. As with previous years, the 2016 Ford F-150 has a great start in terms of winning awards this year.
The first question that comes to mind is obvious: what kind of mileage does it get? The 2016 Ford F-150 is rated at 26 miles per gallon, making it the most fuel efficient full-size gas-powered pickup truck you can buy. You might point out that hybrid cars are far more efficient, but a lot more people drive trucks than hybrids, which means that making greener trucks actually has a bigger impact. In fact, the F-150 is not only our best-selling model at Highway Ford but the best-selling vehicle in all of America.
Part of the new truck’s superior efficiency can be attributed to the extensive use of aluminum, but Ford’s “green” efforts don’t stop there: even the seats are made of fiber from recycled plastic bottles and the fuel lines from castor bean oil! Tell us what your favorite feature of the new 2016 Ford F-150 here at Highway Ford in DeRidder, LA!
For the eighth consecutive year, Ford joined forces with the Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) to supply over 6,000 hot Thanksgiving meals to Detroit seniors, as part of the Holiday Meals on Wheels Thanksgiving program.
“Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful and share with those we love and care about—especially our seniors, who are often alone on the holiday,” said Paul Bridgewater, DAAA president and CEO. He goes on to say, “That’s why we are thankful for the Ford Motor Company Fund. They are driving away hunger on Thanksgiving with their generous donation that enables us to deliver fresh, hot traditional Thanksgiving meals to 6,000 seniors. It is not only a donation and the volunteers they’re supplying to DAAA, but a gift to our entire community.”
Help was provided by means of a $50,000 donation as well in addition to the numerous Ford employees and families who joined the community effort to provide seniors with holiday meals. The donation will also help DAAA’s daily meal service throughout the rest of the year.
Over the last five years, Ford employees—including some of ours at Highway Ford—volunteered at food banks through the automaker’s network of more than 50 mobile food pantries and as a results have contributed to supplying more than 6 million meals to the hungry. Recently, Ford also announced a $2 million investment toward feeding more people across the United States.
Ford recently partnered with schools in San Jose to help give students better chances for later success. The Ford Driving Dreams tour made its first stop in California, promising to donate money to help motivated students.
According to Ford, the Ford Driving Dreams tour is set to impact over 5,000 students in Norther California with high Latino concentrations. The goal is to help disadvantaged students have more opportunities to pursue higher education.
“We are committed to playing an active role in the community, helping level the playing field for students that want to succeed but lack the resources to do so,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services, at the kick-off event in Yerba Buena High School today. Furthermore, he states that “With our local efforts through the Ford Driving Dreams Tour and the Palo Alto Research and Innovation Center, we continue to focus on education and innovation as our top priorities.”
Former NASA astronaut Jose Hernandez followed the tour to help motivate students, underscoring the importance of STEM careers. This is just one more way Ford is giving back. Tell us about ways you are trying to give back this holiday season here at Highway Ford in DeRidder, LA!
