Ford’s stellar lineup of performance vehicles is more popular than ever, and the numbers prove it. In fact, Ford performance cars are currently on track to break sales records this year, with tons of drivers snatching up the Ford Mustang, Ford Focus RS and ST, and Ford Fiesta ST.
More than 200,000 individual Ford performance cars are expected to be sold this year, all throughout the world, which is astonishingly more than twice the amount of Ford performance cars sold a few years ago.
And these sales aren’t expected to slow down anytime soon. Ford even has additional performance models planned for the future, with about half a dozen new performance vehicles slated to be released before the decade ends.
If you are interested in a Ford performance car, you should visit us before it is too late! Demand for the Shelby GT350 and GT350R is out of control, with an endless list of order commitments, and the Focus RS is almost entirely sold out, due to global interest.
Ford performance vehicles have never been hotter! Contact us or visit us anytime, here at Highway Ford, to learn more about Ford performance vehicles or to take one out on a test drive, before they disappear.
The all-new Shelby GT350R is fresh off the assembly line at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant. This model is one of the brand’s most athletic builds yet, with a focus on pure muscle and performance. Made to tackle tracks around the world, there’s no stopping the new Ford Shelby Mustang. The question is, does it hold up to our typical expectation of the a Ford Shelby Mustang?
According to Ford, the new Ford Shelby GT350R comes with a state-of-the-art 5.2-liter V8 engine with a flat-plane crank, generating up to 526 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. Add that to a 3.73 TORSEN limited slip differential and MagneRide suspension and you’ve got one pure-performance machine. I’d say that’s what we’ve come to expect from our Shelby Mustangs!
“This is a special day for all Mustang enthusiasts,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman of the Ford Motor Company. He further states, “We have taken the GT350 formula to the next level of innovation, style and performance. Today the legend continues.”
This model also comes with iconic racing stripes and features like Track Apps, which lets you see and set launch control, line-lock, and more. Best of all, this model comes with extremely lightweight carbon fiber wheels. What’s not to like about the GT350R? Tell us at Highway Ford what you think of the new Ford Shelby GT350R!
The King Cobra Parts Package will turn the 2015 Mustang into a track star.
For the 2014 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show, Ford Racing revealed the 2015 Mustang equipped with the King Cobra parts package. The package is composed of a set of three performance packages, the first offered for the all-new pony car. The most exciting part is they are available to all owners of the Mustang, not just those who built the King Cobra and displayed it at the SEMA Show.
The King Cobra package includes the “Drag Pack,” “Handling Pack,” and “Super Pack,” giving the track-ready Mustang 600+ horsepower and other high-performance features.
“At Ford Racing, we like to push cars to their absolute limit,” said Jamie Allison, Ford Racing director. “This is something we have been doing for 113 years and why we were so excited to get our hands on the all-new, 2015 Mustang.
“We wanted Mustang enthusiasts to be able to open up the Ford Racing parts catalog and get one of everything and see what they could get. We think the King Cobra package is it. But none of this great work would be possible if Team Mustang had not built the best production Mustang yet.”
For more information on purchasing the King Cobra package or to behold the 2015 Mustang in its original glory, before performance modifications, stop by Highway Ford today. We would be glad to oblige.
We love talking about the Ford Mustang here at Highway Ford. Whether it’s a perfectly restored classic muscle version, or a modern model year that races past the dealership with engines roaring! So it should come to no surprise to our constant readers that anytime we get new news about the Ford Mustang we can’t wait to share it. Well today, we have some new information not about the model itself but instead a company that creates some the top of the line aftermarket modifications for the Ford Mustang and their triumphant return to the market.
Saleen, one of the most well known producers of aftermarket tuners for America’s favorite muscle cars has reunited after a split awhile back. Recently, they released the first teaser image of their 2015 Saleen 302 Ford Mustang to prove why so many people consider them the best at what they do. Aside from the teaser image not much is known about the specifics of the vehicle but the image is enough to get Ford Mustang fans drooling over what their beloved Mustangs could look like. Saleen created the Saleen S7 which many consider the “True American Exotic” so we all have high expectations for the 2015 Saleen 302 Ford Mustang!
Ford has been celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the Ford Mustang and we love every minute of it here at Highway Ford. From the newest model rolling out onto the red carpet during the New York International Auto Show to Ford placing a new prized pony on top of the Empire State Building just like the did so many decades ago, Ford sure knows how to throw a great birthday party! Ontop of everything already, Ford has announced that one of the 1,964 special edition 50th anniversary coupes will be produced as a convertible and raffled away for charity.
This charity edition 50th Anniversary Convertible Mustang will come fully stocked. Solid white paint job with chrome trim, aluminum dashboard with two tone upholstery with special badging. Not only that, but this pony will come with 420 horsepower, 390 pounds of torque thanks to its 5 liter V8 engine. To say this once in a lifetime vehicle comes with “all the bells and whistles” is an understatement! This model hits the auction block during the Woodward Dream Cruise in Ferndale, Michigan on August 16th with raffle tickets being sold for $20 a piece!
The 50th Anniversary of the iconic Ford Mustang is just a few short weeks away. And, Ford wants to celebrate in a big way. On April 16 and 17, if you go to the observation deck of the Empire State Building in New York City, you will see a 2015 Ford Mustang convertible, not way down below on the streets, but right next to you, on the deck.
“New York is one of the greatest cities in the world, and it’s the place where the Ford Mustang story began 50 years ago,” said Mark Fields, Ford chief operating officer, in a statement.
Pretty soon there will be a new 2015 Mustang atop the Empire State Building where that 1965 one is.
Ford unveiled the Mustang for the first time at the 1964 New York World’s Fair on April 17. And, in 1965, Ford cut a Mustang into three pieces to fit it in the elevators of the Empire State Building and put it on display at the top.
Now, Ford is going to recreate the process to commemorate this significant anniversary. However, this time around, it will be an even tighter fit, since the new Mustang is seven inches longer and four inches wider.
“Like the team that did this in 1965, the current crew visited the Empire State Building before starting and took careful measurements of its new elevators and doors before cutting up the car,” said Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer, in a statement.
The Mustang will be on display for a total of 54 hours at the Empire State Building. If you’ll be in New York on April 16 or 17, be sure to stop by and take a look at this historic moment.
The year was 1964, the day March 9. Ford Motor Company made automotive history when they unveiled a first of its kind muscle car – The Ford Mustang. The mustang was a new breed of automobile, one that was affordable, highly styled and built for sport/performance. In other words, Mustang was the original Pony car. Over the past 50 years of Mustang, a lot has changed but it has always been popular; to the tune of more than 9.2 million sold since 1964.
The 2014 model is part of the way Ford is celebrating 50 years of Mustang
Although the Mustang revolutionized the American automotive industry when it first came off the assembly line on March 9, the media weren’t introduced until the New York World’s Fair on April 13. It took another four days from the media intro before Ford sold the car publicly. The dates of these events are according to Sam Abuelsamid, Mustang editor at Global Team Ford communications, which you can see in a USA Today article.
In what will be the 6th generation of the muscle car, the 2015 Mustang will partly commemorate the past 50 years of Mustang. It will have all the same features you’ve come to expect from Ford Mustangs as well as all the power and thrilling driving experience. The rest of commemoration will take part in three different locations across the United States. You can read about the events at Pony Drive, Charlotte Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the official 50 years of Mustang page.
Another way you could celebrate, which we have to recommend as the best, is by getting yourself a great 2014 or 2015 Mustang from your Lake Charles area Ford dealer – Highway Ford.
Chocolate is one thing that people associate with Valentine’s Day more so than anything else. With Valentine’s Day today, Ford took to 3D printing to give their fans a sweet treat… a 2015 Ford chocolate Mustang. Although the chocolate version doesn’t get very good gas mileage, it definitely tastes a lot better.
In partnership with a Los Angeles-based company specializing in 3D printed confections, 3D Systems Sugar Lab, Ford built the perfect scale models of their famous muscle car out of chocolate and sugar. Additionally Ford built a plastic model using similar 3D printing techniques which you can see at autoblog.com.
“It was a challenge to take it from the full CAD version down to a little one-inch bite of chocolate, [but] that was fun,” Liz Von Hasseln, Creative Director Food Products at 3D Systems/The Sugar Lab, said. The mini mustangs were a challenge worth taking on, as they created a lot of buzz with blog posts like this and various news articles.
The three 3D printed model Mustangs were part of Ford’s initiative to showcase how the automaker is using 3D printing for all its vehicles. This Ford video talks on that point specifically.
You can’t buy the chocolate or sugar models of the American classic for the motor head on your list this Valentine’s Day, but Ford is considering licensing the design in the future. Maybe you’ll have to settle for getting them a real Ford Mustang instead.
