When it was launched in September, the 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum was only available with the Medium Soft Ceramic and Ebony Black interior color theme. The seats, door panels, pillars, and headliner are Medium Soft Ceramic while the instrument panel and floor are Ebony Black, creating a high-contrast environment pleasing to the eye. Not to mention making the Ford Escape more stylish then ever!
The new theme is low-contrast and features Ebony Black all throughout. This makes the brushed aluminum and satin chrome trim waterline around the dashboard and door panels truly pop out. Regardless of the color scheme you choose, both come with satin-finished ash wood appliqués.

There have been no summer doldrums for the Ford Motor Company, as the brand moved 212,236 vehicles in just the month of July alone. That number was good enough for a 10% increase in sales over last year’s numbers, which also made this the best July for the Blue Oval in eight years. Ford sales in the month were led by SUVs like the Escape and Explorer as well as a strong performance from the Fusion midsize sedan.
“July proved to be a very good month for Ford and Lincoln with positive gains across the board in all the major segments,” said John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “Escape and Fusion were big contributors to our sales increases, with both setting July sales records. F-Series again topped the 60,000-vehicle sales mark and we’re seeing great initial demand for our launch vehicles, such as the Transit Connect, Transit Connect Wagon and the Lincoln MKC as availability builds.”
