Ford has nudged up the performance numbers of the new Ford Fiesta. This fierce hatchback just became feistier, as the all new Fiesta ST200.
The Fiesta ST200 has a recalibrated version of the engine, which gives more temporary horsepower thanks to the transient overboost. Engineers at Ford have kept the six-speed manual gearbox, but have shorted the final drive ratio. This allows the Fiesta to reach 62 mph in 6.7 seconds. This is 0.2 seconds faster than the regular Fiesta ST. In addition, the top speed of the ST200 reaches 143 mph, which is six mph faster than the ST.
Ford has also enhanced the sport chassis, giving it more Torque Vectoring Control and a 3-mode Electronic Stability Control. There is also a stiffer suspension, which is 15mm lower, bigger rear brake discs, a sharper steering rack, and modified front steering knuckles.
Of course, don’t worry if you don’t know what those specific items are, as it visually stands apart from the ST. You can also identify the new ST200 by the model exclusive Strom Grey paint and 17-inch machined black alloy wheels with red brake calipers. On the inside, the ST200 has unique partial leather Charcoal Recar front seats. There is contrasting silver stitching on the seats and seatbelts, and the scuff plates are illuminated.
The Ford Fiesta ST200 goes on sale this June. Be sure to stop by Highway Ford in DeRidder, La to see the regular Ford Fiesta in stock today!
Whether you’re picking up a few groceries or spending the day at the mall, the parking lot can be a dangerous place, especially at night. Thieves keep their eyes open for purchases and unlocked vehicles are easy targets. While locking your car and covering purchases is a start, there’s more you can do to keep your car, and yourself, safe. Remember these parking lot safety tips from Highway Ford.
- Back In – The easiest way to keep your car from getting any dings, dents, or scratches is to back into the parking spot when you first arrive. Pulling out of the spot is easier than backing out, even with rearview cameras and mirrors.
- Distance Yourself – Parking close to the store entrance means more people walking by your car. If you have anything of value, it should be kept out of sight. If you forget, one of those passersby could decide to take it for themselves. By parking further away from the store in a well-lit area, you significantly reduce the chances you’ll become a victim of theft.
- Go Hands-Free – Talking on the phone is a hazard no matter how good of a driver you are. Driving in a parking lot while on the phone is the first step to a fender bender. Many drivers let their awareness go lax once they’re off the main road. Don’t make the same mistake!
Remember these tips to help keep your car and, more importantly, yourself safe. The most important thing you can remember is to stay vigilant and aware of your surroundings!
The Ford F-150 may be the best-selling pickup in the United States but its enormous number of trims is missing something. A Ford F-150 diesel engine hasn’t made an appearance in the modern pickup just yet but that could be about to change. With the competition picking up on the fuel efficient diesel market, it may be time for the Ford F-150 to throw its nameplate into the ring.
Even with the lighter aluminum body and the smallest 2.7-liter V6 engine, the F-150 only earns an EPA-estimated 19 city/26 hwy mpg. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel tops that, taking the top fuel economy spot for the segment.
If the Ford F-150 were to see a diesel option, it’s likely the pickup could steal the top spot. Those odds only increase if the diesel engine is combined with the 10-speed automatic transmission that’s currently in development.
One possible engine that could make its way under the F-150’s hood comes from Land Rover. A former possession of Ford, the Range Rover lines currently use a 3-liter diesel V6 from Ford’s engine family. That engine produces 254 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, topping the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel.
Here at Highway Ford, we are anxiously awaiting news to see what comes next for the constantly adapting and improving Ford F-150 truck!

Everyone wants to feel satisfied after they purchase a new truck, but that doesn’t always happen. However, if you buy a 2015 Ford F-150, you’re probably going to love your new truck. The F-150 just came away with the highest truck score ever in the AutoPacific 2015 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards. This means 2015 Ford F-150 owners are the most satisfied truck owners around. So the 2015 Ford F-150 has been declared the most satisfying truck around! In addition to the F-150, the Ford F-Series Super Duty truck also scored the top position in its segment.
For the 2015 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards, AutoPacific surveyed tens of thousands of new car owners and asked them to rate their satisfaction with the new vehicle in 50 categories that include performance, fuel efficiency, styling, and interior comfort.
“The Vehicle Satisfaction Awards look at the big picture, including owners’ experiences with overall quality and safety,” said George Peterson, president of AutoPacific, “but it goes deeper than that. We also take into account the heart of the ownership experience to determine those vehicles that are extremely satisfying to their owners.”
The 2015 Ford F-150 satisfies with its best-in-class towing, payload, and EPA-estimated fuel efficiency. You’ll also love the fact that it received the top 5-star Overall safety rating for all cab configurations from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. With these attributes and more, it’s easy to see why the 2015 F-150 received the second-highest score ever recorded by AutoPacific, and the highest score ever for a truck.
School may be out for the summer, but that doesn’t mean you won’t see any school buses until September. Some schools have a year-round schedule and many schools continue to have summer activities that use buses as transportation. That is why June is recognized as Student Safety Month, and why we want to focus on keeping students safe on the bright yellow school bus.
Here are some facts about school buses that illustrate why taking the bus is the safest way for your child to get to school:
- Students are eight times safer riding in a school bus than in a passenger car.
- Only 1% of students killed while travelling to school are killed while riding on a school bus; 58% are killed by a teen driver and 23% are killed by an adult driver.
- School buses keep students safe with their large size, flashing red lights, well-trained drivers, cross-view mirrors, reinforced sides, bright color, and stop sign arms.
- School buses save about 2.3 billion gallons of fuel each year by keeping an estimated 17.3 million cars of the road each school day.
This research comes from the US Department of Transportation and the American School Bus Council.
Do you send your kids to school on the school bus? Why or why not? Tell us your thoughts here at Highway Ford!

A recent run-in with what looks to be the new 2017 Ford Fiesta RS has us very excited! Car and Driver recently spied the new Fiesta out and about and there were a few notable changes. The upgrades are mostly likely taking right after the Fiesta’s “big brother,” Ford Focus.
With the hotly anticipated performance based 2017 Ford Focus RS being introduced to the market, a few of its new features seemed to have made their way to the Fiesta. First, the RS badge is new to the Fiesta and will symbolize it as part of Ford’s new performance based lineup.
A few other major feature upgrades on the Fiesta are the large air inlets, fender flares, and noticeable intercooler. With its new performance getup, the Fiesta should also see an upgraded engine, transmission, and suspension.
Whatever the changes may be, we’re excited for the new Ford performance lineup and can’t wait to see what else is in store! To experience the new Ford lineup of cars, trucks, and SUVs, visit us Highway Ford!
