Here in Lake Charles, we are known for our Creole heritage and Cajun lifestyle. As part of this Cajun life, we love to eat, drink and celebrate our heritage and history. Lake Charles has some of the best festivals to celebrate this – See what summer Cajun Festivals are going on this year.
Cajun Food & Music Festival (July 15-16)
The Cajun Food & Music Festival is an exciting event with classic Louisiana dishes such as Jambalaya and gumbo, and other great Cajun spiced foods. In addition to great food, you will find bands playing traditional Cajun music. This year, this festival will be held at Burton Coliseum Complex on July 15th and 16th.
Arts & Crabs (August 20)
Only in Louisiana can you find a festival that puts art and crabs together. Now this festival doesn’t actually paint pictures of crabs, but it does let you enjoy great Cajun food (with crabs) while you participate in different arts and crafts. This year, the event will be held on August 20th.
Marshland Festival (July 29-30)
The Marshland Festival began as a way to bring young people together to learn and celebrate Louisiana Heritage and Cajun Music and Cuisine. Like most festivals in SWLA, you can’t have a good party without good Food and Music! This festival has been around for over 25 years and continues to be a great time!
We enjoy these festivals as much as the next Louisiana native. If you know of any other great festivals going on this summer, tell us about it at Highway Ford.
