The Big Game has come and gone, and it brought another win for New England, who made a spectacular comeback in the second half! Even if you weren’t interested in the game itself, odds are you’ve seen the commercials. Ford’s new advertisement aired prior to kickoff, and it put a focus on mobility rather than a shiny new car. Boasting the “Go Further” tagline, the ad showed off a long list of Ford products.
The 90-second ad spent the first minutes showing the various mobility-oriented problems people end up stuck in, including a cat with a box on its head. The focus then shifts to a list of various Ford products that arrive to save the day.
The Ford F-150 pulls a car from a snowbank. A navigation system offers a clear pathway to a destination. The Ford GT got its own spotlight, as did autonomous technology. An electric car pointed toward Ford’s available electric lineup. The Ford GoBike bike-sharing program also had its seconds of fame.
While we aren’t really sure if there’s a Ford product to help the cat with a box stuck on its head, Ford made its message clear. Being on the cutting edge isn’t easy, but the engineers at Ford are going above and beyond to ensure mobility for all.
We here at Highway Ford extend our congratulations to New England and Atlanta for a well-played game!
Spending the hot summer days having fun is one thing but kicking back and relaxing is another. Not every summer day has to be an adventure, unlike most movies say. - Hammock – There’s nothing quite like spending an afternoon under a tree or on the porch. A decent hammock doesn’t cost much in terms of money and is an incredibly relaxing way to spend the day. - Grill – Summer is a great time to try a new grilling recipe. Whether it’s for yourself or you use your family and friends as guinea pigs, this is the season to try something new! Grilling recipes are easily accessible online and through physical cookbooks. Pick one that’s right for you and give it a shot!
- Swim – One of the most obvious ways to spend the summer, swimming provides a way to cool off as well as getting the kids active. Head to the local swimming hole or pool and splash around for the day!
Ford has nudged up the performance numbers of the new Ford Fiesta. This fierce hatchback just became feistier, as the all new Fiesta ST200.
The Fiesta ST200 has a recalibrated version of the engine, which gives more temporary horsepower thanks to the transient overboost. Engineers at Ford have kept the six-speed manual gearbox, but have shorted the final drive ratio. This allows the Fiesta to reach 62 mph in 6.7 seconds. This is 0.2 seconds faster than the regular Fiesta ST. In addition, the top speed of the ST200 reaches 143 mph, which is six mph faster than the ST.
Ford has also enhanced the sport chassis, giving it more Torque Vectoring Control and a 3-mode Electronic Stability Control. There is also a stiffer suspension, which is 15mm lower, bigger rear brake discs, a sharper steering rack, and modified front steering knuckles.
Of course, don’t worry if you don’t know what those specific items are, as it visually stands apart from the ST. You can also identify the new ST200 by the model exclusive Strom Grey paint and 17-inch machined black alloy wheels with red brake calipers. On the inside, the ST200 has unique partial leather Charcoal Recar front seats. There is contrasting silver stitching on the seats and seatbelts, and the scuff plates are illuminated.
The Ford Fiesta ST200 goes on sale this June. Be sure to stop by Highway Ford in DeRidder, La to see the regular Ford Fiesta in stock today!
Ford recently released an updated version of their Mustang Customizer app, available at both the virtual Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The redesigned app actually allows you to see the car from every angle, thanks to their new 3D rendering system.

Ford has introduced several cool, new apps for Ford SYNC AppLink to improve owner convenience and entertainment, including AccuWeather, Life360, and Radio Disney.
The AccuWeather app introduces MinuteCast technology to AppLink customers, which uses an exact address of GPS location to provide minute-by-minute forecasting, information about precipitation type, intensity, and duration to the driver, so the weather will never surprise or hinder you ever again.
Life360 is a free smartphone app that helps family members and close friends stay in touch by showing where they are on a private map and allowing them to send group or one-to-one messages. Being busy is no longer an excuse not to stay in touch!
Most of all, families will enjoy Radio Disney, a 24-hour network devoted to kids and tweens with family-friendly content. It features music, interviews, and live performances by some of today’s most popular artists.

2015 Ford F-150
The brand-new, aluminum-bodied 2015 F-150 has already decreased its fuel consumption significantly, raising its fuel economy rating to 26 mpg—a terrific number for a big truck. But what if this number increased even more? Ford is looking to do just that with a gas-electric hybrid powertrain, which the American carmaker is currently developing as you’re reading this.
While the details concerning the F-150 hybrid pickup are currently nonexistent, Ford’s global product development chief, Raj Nair, was quoted last year saying Ford is planning on introducing the world to hybrid pickups and SUVs by 2020. Diesel powertrains are also still an option for the American carmaker, especially since Ford already has this specific powertrain in the portfolio for its larger trucks.
Do you think that a Ford F-150 hybrid pickup development would be a good choice for the brand’s next step in creating a fuel-efficient truck? Or do you believe the automaker would be better off creating a diesel powertrain for the smaller pickup? Share your thoughts with Highway Ford below!
Ford’s Kentucky Truck Plant will achieve another landmark moment in its 45 years of operation this October when the five-millionth F-Series Super Duty rolls off the assembly line.
The Kentucky plant, which took over operations for production of the F-250 through F-550, is also responsible for production of the Expedition and Lincoln Navigator.
“Super Duty trucks are engineered to meet the needs of the toughest customers,” said Doug Scott, Ford Truck group marketing manager. “Their continued sales dominance with these demanding customers proves how hard they deliver.”
To give some perspective as to how much has changed over the course of 15 years and five-million models, chew on these comparisons between the first and most recent Super Duty trucks produced at the Kentucky Truck Plant:
The largest gasoline engine produced for the Super Duty in 1999 was the Triton 6.8-liter V10, and the largest Super Duty diesel engine was a 7.3-liter engine. These powerplants generated 275 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque and was a 7.3-liter, respectively.
The largest gasoline engine produced for Super Duty today is a 6.2-liter V8 that delivers a beastly 385 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque. The current Power Stroke® V8 turbo diesel makes 440 horsepower and 860 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are also more fuel efficient than their 1999 counterparts.
Additionally, the 2015 F-450 has a best-in-class tow rating of 31,200 pounds and best-in-class gross combined weight rating of 40,400 lbs.
If you have the need for a big pickup truck that has benefitted from more than 15 years of expertise from the men and women of the Kentucky Truck Plant, then stop to Highway Ford to see our inventory of F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups.
