Chevrolet may have aired several advertisements comparing the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado but they don’t seem to have had much effect. In fact, the ads seemed to have backfired on their creators if the latest sales numbers are anything to go by. Ford’s June Sales proved that the original American brand still has what it takes to overcome any obstacle.
Despite the ad that claimed the Silverado’s steel bed is far tougher than the F-150’s aluminum bed, Ford F-150 sales increased by a massive 28% in June. That brings the total number of F-Series pickups sold last month to over 70,000.
While Chevrolet created the ads to hit Ford hard, the Silverado actually saw a 3.7% decline in sales compared to the same time last year. That puts the Chevrolet Silverado’s sales at just under 50,000 units.
In addition to the Ford F-150’s increase, the Ford Escape saw a 20% increase in sales. Those two, plus a few other crossovers and SUVs, brought Ford’s June sales to a 6.4% increase with over 240,000 vehicles sold. Ford sold 225,647 vehicles in June 2015.
On top of Ford’s success, Lincoln, Ford’s luxury brand, saw a 5.8% increase in sales as well.
We here at Highway Ford are glad to see true quality and strength overwhelming the competition!
The Ford F-150 may be the best-selling pickup in the United States but its enormous number of trims is missing something. A Ford F-150 diesel engine hasn’t made an appearance in the modern pickup just yet but that could be about to change. With the competition picking up on the fuel efficient diesel market, it may be time for the Ford F-150 to throw its nameplate into the ring.
Even with the lighter aluminum body and the smallest 2.7-liter V6 engine, the F-150 only earns an EPA-estimated 19 city/26 hwy mpg. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel tops that, taking the top fuel economy spot for the segment.
If the Ford F-150 were to see a diesel option, it’s likely the pickup could steal the top spot. Those odds only increase if the diesel engine is combined with the 10-speed automatic transmission that’s currently in development.
One possible engine that could make its way under the F-150’s hood comes from Land Rover. A former possession of Ford, the Range Rover lines currently use a 3-liter diesel V6 from Ford’s engine family. That engine produces 254 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, topping the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel.
Here at Highway Ford, we are anxiously awaiting news to see what comes next for the constantly adapting and improving Ford F-150 truck!
It’ll come as no surprise to those who stay up to date with the truck world, but here it is anyway: the 2016 Ford F-150 has been named the 2016 Green Truck of the Year by Green Car Journal at the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show. As with previous years, the 2016 Ford F-150 has a great start in terms of winning awards this year.
The first question that comes to mind is obvious: what kind of mileage does it get? The 2016 Ford F-150 is rated at 26 miles per gallon, making it the most fuel efficient full-size gas-powered pickup truck you can buy. You might point out that hybrid cars are far more efficient, but a lot more people drive trucks than hybrids, which means that making greener trucks actually has a bigger impact. In fact, the F-150 is not only our best-selling model at Highway Ford but the best-selling vehicle in all of America.
Part of the new truck’s superior efficiency can be attributed to the extensive use of aluminum, but Ford’s “green” efforts don’t stop there: even the seats are made of fiber from recycled plastic bottles and the fuel lines from castor bean oil! Tell us what your favorite feature of the new 2016 Ford F-150 here at Highway Ford in DeRidder, LA!
Everyone wants to feel satisfied after they purchase a new truck, but that doesn’t always happen. However, if you buy a 2015 Ford F-150, you’re probably going to love your new truck. The F-150 just came away with the highest truck score ever in the AutoPacific 2015 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards. This means 2015 Ford F-150 owners are the most satisfied truck owners around. So the 2015 Ford F-150 has been declared the most satisfying truck around! In addition to the F-150, the Ford F-Series Super Duty truck also scored the top position in its segment.
For the 2015 Vehicle Satisfaction Awards, AutoPacific surveyed tens of thousands of new car owners and asked them to rate their satisfaction with the new vehicle in 50 categories that include performance, fuel efficiency, styling, and interior comfort.
“The Vehicle Satisfaction Awards look at the big picture, including owners’ experiences with overall quality and safety,” said George Peterson, president of AutoPacific, “but it goes deeper than that. We also take into account the heart of the ownership experience to determine those vehicles that are extremely satisfying to their owners.”
The 2015 Ford F-150 satisfies with its best-in-class towing, payload, and EPA-estimated fuel efficiency. You’ll also love the fact that it received the top 5-star Overall safety rating for all cab configurations from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. With these attributes and more, it’s easy to see why the 2015 F-150 received the second-highest score ever recorded by AutoPacific, and the highest score ever for a truck.
When it came to redesigning the Ford F-150, the designers and engineers not only crafted the next generation of the ever-popular pickup, but they also built a truck that continues to keep its passengers safe. The 2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew earned a five-star rating for Overall Vehicle Safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In addition to using aluminum to construct much of the truck’s body and shedding 700 pounds off the weight of the previous model, the F-150 SuperCrew incorporates 31 new innovations for improved safety. No wonder the pickup passed safety tests with flying colors to earn the highest safety rating the government gives.
“The five-star safety rating is a terrific example of One Ford collaboration and innovation,” said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president for Global Product Development. He further states:
“Our truck team worked together for years to deliver this accomplishment, using an unprecedented combination of advanced materials throughout the all-new F-150. The 2015 model is engineered to be the safest F-150 ever, which matters to customers who depend on this truck to not only get the job done, but also get them safely home.”

Awards for the new F-150 just keep coming in, including the Truck Trend Pickup of the Year. Not only is the new model tougher and more capable than ever, but it’s also one of the smartest pickups Ford has developed to date.
So what does “smart” mean? According to Ford, the 2015 F-150 features a new 360-degree camera, integrated loading rams, BoxLink™ brackets and cleats, LED headlamps, and a remote tailgate among other things. To top it off, the lightweight aluminum design and all-new engine options make it more efficient and powerful than ever.

Holman, Truck Trend content director. “What we put these trucks through was nothing short of grueling, and it was the F-150 that consistently impressed our experts.”

The Ford camp is simply abuzz with the arrival of the all-new, groundbreaking aluminum-body F150. To help get the word out about this incredible truck, Ford initiated a marketing blitz that began on New Year’s Eve.
The underlying message? The Ford F150 is the ‘Future of Tough.’ Edmunds.com explains how the commercial’s focus is on “the strength and durability of the new truck and innovative new features such as integrated ramps and a remote tailgate.” One spot in particular highlights the new F150’s capacity, showing off its 12,200 lb towing capability.
For the Future of Tough campaign, Ford is even going so far as to redesign its Built Ford Tough logo. While stalwarts may be a little perturbed by this refresh, they should know the essence of the design will remain the same. Ford just felt that it was appropriate that the logo be built out of aluminum as well.
Come out to Highway Ford today and test-drive the ‘Future Of Tough’ in 2015.
By now, Ford’s decision to use an aluminum body for its best-selling truck, the F-150, is fairly well-documented. It was also a dramatic move not without controversy, forcing the company to revise its manufacturing process in a big way.
According to USA Today, “Ford says the 2015 trucks will get 5% to 29% in fuel economy improvements over the outgoing versions depending on engine and configuration.” The comparison on the higher end is between Ford’s EcoBoost 2.7-liter turbocharged engine and a 5-liter V-8—a fair comparison as these two engines will actually yield similar performance.
Truth be told, there is a rival truck-maker out there that produces a vehicle rated at 23 combined mpg, one mpg better than the new Ford F-150. But that contender is a diesel truck and not a practical choice for customers. “Ford, however, points out that the higher cost of diesel fuel will more than offset any potential savings.”
It doesn’t all come down to vying for the best truck fuel efficiency rates either. Ford is quick to highlight the fact that the F-150 also saw “maximum payload and towing improvements.”

Something keeps getting lost in the aluminum shuffle surrounding the all-new 2015 Ford F-150—the fact that the F-150 offers enough innovation and technology to make it an interesting vehicle even if the frame was made out of wood (which, of course, it is not). Here at Highway Ford, the most exciting of these new technologies is the special power rear window, an innovation created, designed, and implemented by Magna International. The new power rear window will have seamless functionality, adding a new level of convenience to America’s best-selling truck.
The special window option comes as a direct response to customer feedback, according to Noah Mass, manager of body exterior mechanisms for Ford. “They said they wanted visibility, that it seals well when it is closed, but still able to open the center window and use the defog when it is open,” Mass said. To meet this need, Ford opened a design competition, and Magna International delivered exactly what both Ford and its customers wanted.
The new window is an efficient one-piece sealing technology, and it even offers a heating grid that can keep the rear window defrosted even when the window is open. That’s the kind of technology you can’t find anywhere but with the Blue Oval. The folks at Ford are already looking for new ways to deploy this technology, so make sure to let them know which Ford vehicle could most benefit from the sliding power rear window option.
